At SFAMSC, student circles are all about giving students a chance to explore their passions, talents, and skills with a little help and guidance from their teachers. These groups bring together students from different grades and classes, creating a fun and supportive community where everyone can bond over shared interests.
Joining a student circle isn’t just about having fun — it’s also a great way to build social skills, learn how to work with others, and even pick up some leadership experience. Plus, if you really shine in your circle, you might get the chance to represent SFAMSC in competitions and performances outside of school! It’s a great way to show off your talents, meet new friends from other schools, and see the world from a broader perspective.
At SFAMSC, we truly believe that being part of a student circle helps you grow not just as a student, but as a person ready to take on the future.

15. Chess Club
Chess is easily the most popular board game at SFAMSC. You’ll find students playing it everywhere — in the library, in the hallways, and in every corner of the school during break time and recess. Unsurprisingly, we have a student club dedicated entirely to this fantastic game.
The Chess Club was created to promote and develop a love for chess among students. Our goal isn’t just to have fun (though we do plenty of that!) — it’s also to help students build essential skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, patience, and strategic planning. Chess teaches you how to think ahead, stay calm under pressure, and make smart decisions on and off the board.
Through tournaments, friendly matches, training sessions, and casual games, the Chess Club welcomes players of all levels, from complete beginners to seasoned pros. Chess is for everyone, and anyone can enjoy its many benefits with a little practice and passion.
For those who excel, there’s an exciting opportunity: the best players get to represent SFAMSC in interschool competitions and other major chess tournaments outside the school. It’s a chance to showcase your skills, meet other talented players, and make our community proud.
